KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – In order to support a large-scale series of free meal events over the summer, God’s Kitchen of Michigan is seeking community donations through a GoFundMe campaign.
The series of events is called “The Big Give,” which is a partnership with Broncos Kitchen, another area hunger relief organization.
Officials say the project is designed to celebrate God’s Kitchen’s 10-year anniversary, while simultaneously combating hunger in the cities of Kalamazoo, Portage and Oshtemo Township.
As a part of this event series, the organizations are hoping to serve 10,000 free meals to those who need them in the area.
The series already started on June 1 and will continue through August 18.
All meals are free and open to the public until they run out of food, and there are no income or identification requirements to participate.
At the time of this reporting, just over $13,000 of the $30,000 goal has been met, although the campaign says it is seeking to raise $35,000 if possible.
To donate, residents can visit the GoFundMe campaign at this link.
To learn about the remaining free dinner dates and locations, visit God’s Kitchen of Michigan’s website at www.godskitchenofmichigan.org or Broncos Kitchen at www.broncoskitchen.org.
