KALAMAZOO, MI (WZKO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Growlers will welcome fans back this Wednesday for their first game since the state lifted some COVID-19 restrictions. All Michigan sports stadiums were allowed to return to full capacity as of June 1 following the next phase in Governor Whitmer’s “MI Vacc to Normal” plan.
Growlers General Manager, Brian Colopy said last year, his team was only allowed 100 fans per game. He spoke with WWMT about preparations for the 2021 season.
“We’re still going to have safety precautions and go through a lot of things here this upcoming summer but this is big for our team, our fans, the community, and this city ballpark,” Colopy said. “There are so many people that this impacts and we tell everyone it could be a first or last game so we owe it to the community to put on the best game.”
Wednesday’s home opener was scheduled for 6:35 p.m. against Kenosha.
