KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Consumers Energy says a massive power outage is affecting several areas around Kalamazoo County. It’s impacting scattered areas of Kalamazoo, Portage, and Climax Township. Altogether, around 8,000 customers are affected. The first outages were reported at around 8:55 a.m. and then others followed at around 9:30 a.m..
The cause has not been determined, and crews are on their way to assess the problem. There have been windy conditions in the area Friday morning.
Current restoration estimates say power could be restored by 2:15 p.m. We will provide updates when they become available.
