LOS ANGELES, CA (WKZO AM/FM) – Matthew Stafford is finally opening up about how he asked to be traded from the Detroit Lions.
The former Detroit quarterback has not spoken on the topic since the Rams acquired him in January in a trade with the Lions, the organization where the former number-one overall draft pick spent the first 12 years of his career.
While he spoke on a range of topics in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, he did share how he asked to be traded revealing he had spent some time thinking about it, first discussing it with his wife and noting that, “It wasn’t something that was easy for me.”
Stafford also revealed that both he and the organization agreed they would not speak on it until the team was ready and that he is excited for the new opportunity and felt both teams got a “fair shake out of this thing.”
