BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A woman arrested in connection to an armed robbery at a liquor store in Battle Creek may be connected to several other robberies at businesses in the city recently.
Police say the 38-year-old robbed the Liberty Mart on Capital Ave. at around 7:40 Tuesday evening. A female clerk said she was wearing a dark face mask and raised her hand, which was covered by a black bag, claiming she was holding a gun and demanded money. The clerk soon realized there was no gun. She then pulled out a gun herself and pointed it at the suspect, who then fled on foot with some stolen items.
Police located the suspect and chased her on foot to a residence in the 200 block of E. Van Buren Street, where she was arrested. Police seized the stolen items.
Investigators believe she may be the same suspect in a convenience store robbery and two motel robberies that all happened within the last month.
