KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Tuesday, Kalamazoo-based Green Door Distilling Co. announced that their newly released Blueberry Liqueur and Botanical Gin both medaled at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, competing against over 3,500 spirits from across the world.
“When I heard that we won a double-gold at San Francisco I couldn’t sit down for a little bit because I was so excited,” Green Door Head Distiller Tyler Glasser said in a statement. “We just released these spirits a month ago and to already be receiving top honors like this, man it gets me stoked.”
Green Door’s Blueberry Liqueur won the Double-Gold, only given to the very few spirits where all 30+ judges give a gold rating. Green Door’s Botanical Gin also medaled, winning a Bronze medal.
“The response from the market to our new portfolio has been stellar. Some of Michigan’s finest spirits shops are putting us on their shelves, and knowing that industry insiders are also pleased with what we’re doing is encouraging,” Head of Growth at Green Door Michael Jefferies said in a statement. “At the end of the day, though, we want to know what the consumers say. They are the judges that matter the most.”
Green Door’s Blueberry Liqueur is an 80 proof liqueur, made with Michigan blueberries and lavender, according to officials.
Green Door’s Botanical Gin is a 90 proof gin that balances juniper with citrus and exotic herbs.
