BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Public Health Department started to vaccinate children between the ages of 12 and 15 with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday.
The vaccine was authorized and recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier this week.
Parents/guardians wishing to have their children between the ages of 12 and 17 vaccinated can take them to one of the CCPHD walk-in/ drive-thru vaccine clinic sites. No appointment is needed.
They may also schedule an appointment at calhouncountymi.gov/ covidvaccine. Individuals who are 12 – 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to receive the vaccine.
The health department will be offering both Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine (J&J/Janssen) at all upcoming vaccine clinics.

- Saturday, May 15, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Calhoun County Fairgrounds, 720 Fair St., Marshall, MI. (Drive-thru). Pfizer vaccine, 12 years and older, J&J vaccine for 18 years and older upon request. The second dose of Pfizer can be either Kellogg Community College on June 10th or Homer High School on June 12th.
- Tuesday, May 18, 9 a.m. – Noon and 4-6 p.m., Battle Creek YMCA (Lobby), 182 Capital Ave NE, Battle Creek, MI. Pfizer vaccine, 12 years and older, J&J vaccine for 18 years and older upon request. No appointment necessary to get first dose, the second dose of Pfizer vaccine will be offered on June 8 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. & 4-6 p.m. Please note this clinic location is inside the lobby of the YMCA and NOT at the Multi Sports Complex where clinics have been held in the past.
- Thursday, May 20 from 3-6 p.m., Kellogg Community College, North Parking Lot, 450 North Ave., Battle Creek, MI (Drive-Thru). Pfizer vaccine, 12 years and older, J&J vaccine for 18 years and older upon request. Second dose of Pfizer vaccine will be offered on Thursday, June 10 at the same location and time. Vaccine clinics will reoccur at this location every three weeks (May 20, June 10, and July 1).
- Saturday, May 22, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Homer High School, 403 S. Hillsdale, Homer, MI (Drive-thru). Pfizer vaccine, 12 years and older, J&J vaccine for 18 years and older upon request. No appointment necessary to get your first dose, the second dose of Pfizer vaccine will be offered Tuesday, June 12 at the same location and time.
- Tuesday, May 25 from 3-6 p.m., Minges Creek Parking Lot, 5700 Beckley Rd, Battle Creek, MI (Drive-Thru). Pfizer vaccine, 12 years and older, J&J vaccine for 18 years and older upon request. No appointment necessary to get your first dose, the second dose of Pfizer vaccine will be offered Tuesday, June 15 at the same location and time. Vaccine clinics will reoccur at this location every three weeks (May 25, June 15, and July 6).
Beginning June 1, the Public Health Department will be offering COVID-19 vaccines at their Battle Creek locations by appointment.
