ALBION, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Calhoun County police caught a catalytic converter thief in the act early Sunday morning, May 9th.
It happened when a sheriff’s deputy found a suspicious vehicle near the Park-N-Ride on C Drive North near Albion around 2:20 a.m.
The deputy observed the suspect, a 43-year-old male from Big Rapids, exiting his vehicle and getting under another one. The deputy approached the suspect who was attempting to cut off the converter from the other vehicle.
The suspect confessed to the crime and is believed by police to have been working the I-94 and I-69 corridor.
