BOSTON, MA (WKZO AM/FM) – The Boston Red Sox hit four home runs to beat the skidding Detroit Tigers 11-7 in Boston Tuesday night.
Xander Bogaerts knocked out a two-run homer while Nick Pivetta struck out eight over five innings. Alex Verdugo, Hunter Renfroe, and Kiké Hernandez also went deep in a slug fest with the Tigers that totaled for 24 hits and 13 pitchers combined.
JaCoby Jones had a three-run homer to start a key four-run rally in the sixth inning that pulled Detroit within two runs.
The Tigers have lost six straight and 11 of their last 12.
Tonight, Casey Mize gets the nod for the Tigers, while Martin Perez gets the start for the Red Sox. The opening pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
