NEW YORK, NY (WKZO AM/FM) – Corey Kluber pitched eight scoreless innings and struck out 10 batters as the New York Yankees shut down the Detroit Tigers 2-0 in the Bronx Sunday afternoon.
Brett Gardner and Kyle Higashioka drove in runs for the Yankees. Aroldis Chapman picked up the save for New York, which finished the three-game sweep.
The Tigers finished with just two hits.
Detroit has lost 15 of its last 17 including their last five in a row. The Tigers are now sitting at a league-worst record of 8-and-21 and have been shutout three of their last four games and six times overall so far this season.
Detroit continues its road trip and opens a three-game series in Boston on Tuesday.
