PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Hartford man charged in a Portage criminal sexual conduct case, alleged to have taken place at a local preschool, has pleaded guilty, according to a report from Mlive Wednesday.
Last fall, 19-year-old Aaron Joe Bryant was arraigned on one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct 2nd Degree with a Child Under the Age 13.
Police were notified of the case by Children’s Protective Services after they received a report from the parents of a child who attends Gilden Woods Early Care and Preschool in Portage.
The report said that while viewing a video stream from the school, Bryant was seen sexually assaulting their child. The parents then reported the incident to Children’s Protective Services.
The report from MLive Wednesday says Bryant was actually charged in another case. In the second, Bryant had been accused of inappropriately touching a five-year-old boy while he was sleeping.
On April 21, Bryant accepted a plea bargain. He had been charged with a felony count of second-degree CSC with a child under 13, as well as one misdemeanor count of fourth-degree child abuse, according to the report.
Due to the plea deal specifications, additional charges of second-degree CSC were dropped.
However, the report also says that Bryant was already sentenced for up to 15 years in a third case, where he was charged with second-degree CDC in Berrien County.
Where the Portage case is concerned, Bryant will be sentenced in May.
