LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Students in the Lansing School District are having their return to the classroom delayed again.
The district Thursday pushed back its return to in-person learning for the fourth time as state COVID-19 rates remain among the worst in the country.
Superintendent Sam Sinicropi said in a press release that COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations remain too high to expect students to safely return to their classrooms. He hopes infection rates will fall low enough to allow the return to the classroom April 26.
“We have said many times, the science dictates to us when students can safely return to school,” Sinicropi said in the press release. “We will keep classes online and hope for the best, but we will be prepared to change direction again if needed.”
The district says learning labs and in-person special education services will continue.
