KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — There’s been a steady increase in shooting incidents and arrests related to weapons in recent days in the Kalamazoo area. Some have resulted in fatalities and Kalamazoo police say another fatal shooting occurred Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to a home in the 1000 block of N. Park St. and found a person who had been struck by gunfire inside a home. Medical treatment was provided at the scene, but after being taken to a hospital the victim later died as a result of the injuries.
The victim’s name is being withheld, pending family notification. Police have not indicated any information about potential suspects.
Last Thursday, a fatal shooting occurred in Oshtemo Township. At least two other weapons-related arrests and assaults happened in areas of Kalamazoo since then.
