PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Wednesday, city officials in Portage announced that helicopter operations would be taking place in the area of West Centre and Oakland Drive.
The helicopter operations were conducted by the Michigan State Police Aviation Division, meant to assist Portage police with an ongoing missing person case.
Officials say that the case in question is in regards to the 2018 disappearance of Bonafacio Pena.

In May 2018, then 18-year-old Pena was last seen leaving a residence in Portage with Nicholas Johnson of Portage.
Nicholas Johnson was recently charged with the murder of his parents in Portage in February 2021.
This information, along with witness statements and other evidence, has led investigators to believe Pena was met with foul play, according to city officials.
