PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Pfizer is expected to break ground on a new facility this Wednesday, according to a report from MLive earlier this week.
The new building, entitled “Modular Aseptic Processing,” will be a 420,000 square-foot facility, and will be expected to create 450 new area jobs, according to the report.
Located at 7171 Portage Road, the new facility will manufacture a pain medicine called Dynastat. Officials say this drug is sent to several countries around the world.
Portage Mayor Patricia Randall told MLive that the expected revenue on the building is estimated to be around $26.7 million over 20 years, along with almost $50 million to the surrounding area over six years.
The groundbreaking is expected to take place at 1 p.m., with construction expected to begin later this spring.
The building is expected to be fully operational in 2025.
