LANSING, MI — A Tesla allegedly in self-drive mode struck a Michigan State Police cruiser south of Lansing on I-96 early Wednesday, according to a tweet from the MSP.
Troopers from the Lansing Post were investigating a car-deer accident near Waverly Road and I-96 at the time of the incident around 1:12 a.m. this morning. The Tesla, which was set on autopilot, , according to MSP, collided with the patrol vehicle near the shoulder of the road. Police said the cruiser’s emergency lights were on at the time of the accident.
No one was injured but the Tesla’s driver, a 22-year-old Lansing man, was ticketed for failing to move over for an emergency vehicle and for driving with a suspended license.
