CHELSEA, MI — Proceeds from a GoFundMe memorial for a Chelsea teenager who died after being struck by a vehicle near Jackson last weekend will help raise awareness of mental health issues.
Shaun Happy, 18, argued with his brother Saturday night before running into traffic on I-94 in Blackman-Leoni Township, according to police. The teen was struck by a vehicle and killed.
The teenager’s mother told the Detroit News this week that Shaun had been battling anxiety and depression. He was a senior at Chelsea High School.
March is Mental Awareness Health Month. People who have a mental illness can find help through local Community Mental Health Services Programs.
