A start-up company launches a sports drink based on 97 percent dairy.
GoodSport will soon be available on Amazon and at goodsport.com with broader distribution coming later in 2021. Passing milk over an ultra-porous membrane can increase or decrease the lactose and protein of the final product.
Milk can also be microfiltered to separate out bacteria and produce a long shelf life. GoodSport’s brainchild Michelle McBride says her product does both while providing electrolytes, less sugar, calcium and B vitamins. The product with protein removed creates a clear, light beverage with a mouthfeel consumers expect from a sports drink.
GoodSport was launched with support from the dairy checkoff and dairy groups.
