KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Cass County man facing murder charges in the shooting death of a Kalamazoo man in late February says jealousy was the motive.
64-year-old Michael Vines was killed outside an apartment complex in the 4500 block of West Main Street after being shot several times. MLive reports the suspect, 30-year-old Jordan Pierre Johnson of Vandalia, told police he shot Vines because his child and child’s mother had just moved in with Vines earlier that same day.
Johnson was arrested the day after the murder and was arraigned earlier this week. He faces one count of open murder and one count of weapons-felony firearm, according to court records.
He’s due back in court on March 9th.
