CHARLOTTE, MI — An individual with the British variant of COVID-19 has been identified in Eaton County.
The Barry-Eaton District Health Department (BEDHD) is urging individuals to continue to take precautions against COVID-19, especially as new variants of the virus, such as the B.1.1.7 variant, that causes COVID-19 become more prevalent.
The B.1.1.7 variant was first identified in Great Britain and is the result of mutations to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus that causes COVID-19. Previously cases of the new variant have been identified in Washtenaw and Kent counties.
