The Atlanta Dream signed free-agent forward Tianna Hawkins to a two-year contract on Thursday.
The 6-foot-3 Hawkins averaged 8.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game last year for the Washington Mystics, who she helped lead to their first WNBA title in 2019.
Averaging a career-high 19.4 minutes per game last season, Hawkins, 29, posted eight double-figure scoring games, including a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Indiana on Aug. 9.
Terms of Hawkins’ deal were not disclosed, per Dream policy.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tianna, her fiancé Jarrod, and her son Emanuel to the Dream family,” coach Nicki Collen said in a statement. “Tianna brings a championship mentality from Washington and a desire to do whatever it takes for her team to win. She has shown her versatility as both a rim runner and three-point shooter, and will add depth to our front court.”
Hawkins, who was drafted No. 6 overall by the Seattle Storm in the 2013 WNBA Draft out of the University of Maryland, has averaged 6.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in seven seasons (204 games), with the last six spent with Washington.
“I am so excited for this opportunity to join the Dream,” Hawkins said in a statement. “I look forward to competing every day with such a great group of people, bringing in good energy and being a great teammate. My focus is to be a positive asset to the organization and to also continue to grow as a basketball player.”
The Dream, who hold the third overall pick in this year’s draft, finished 10th in the 12-team league with a record of 7-15 last year, marking just the fourth time in the franchise’s 13 years it failed to reach the playoffs.
