BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — UPDATE: Battle Creek officials say that a fatal fire that occurred Sunday morning is not connected to the case of Amber Griffin.
In a statement released Monday, Battle Creek city officials said that the fire, which took place at 266 Oneita Street, is currently thought to be accidental. That conclusion is based on findings of the Battle Creek Police and Fire departments.
Officials confirmed that this house was the last place Amber Griffin was seen alive on June 22, 2020. Officials have no reason to believe these two incidents are related.
Officials are not releasing any information about the person who died in the fire at this time, but confirmed that person is not affiliated with the case.
Meanwhile, Amber Griffin’s disappearance is being treated as a murder case, and is still under investigation at this time.
