Denver Broncos cornerback Duke Dawson Jr. is out for the season with a torn ACL suffered in Sunday’s 32-27 win at Carolina, NFL Network reported Monday.
Dawson, who was making his first start of the season, sustained a non-contact knee injury in the first quarter and was carted off the field.
The 25-year-old had two tackles against the Panthers and finishes the season with eight tackles.
Dawson had 19 tackles and one fumble recovery in 14 games in Denver in 2019. He was selected by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft from Florida.
The Broncos were already thin at the position, missing A.J. Bouye (suspension), Bryce Callahan (injured reserve) and Essang Bassey (injured reserve) heading into Sunday’s contest.
Denver (5-8) returns to action Saturday at home against the Buffalo Bills (10-3).
