It’s a fast start to the fiscal year as analysts at USDA look at export numbers. Over $12 billion for September surprised a lot of experts as they checked out at the figures. October has proven to be even better as exports topped $15 billion for the month, a 23 percent increase from October the year before. Economist Bart Kenner says the last time he’s seen a number that strong was for November, 2013. Kenner says having a strong start to the fiscal year improves the chances of seeing strong months to follow. As of now, the Department of Agriculture expects exports this year to top last year’s by 12 percent. This fall’s surveys are good start in that direction.
