ANN ARBOR, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – There will be no University of Michigan-Ohio State University football game this year.
The Wolverines have canceled Saturday’s scheduled game in Columbus due to an increase of coronavirus cases within the program.
Athletic Directors from the Big Ten are set to meet today to discuss the conference’s championship game. The Big Ten released a statement yesterday shortly after Michigan canceled the game this weekend with Ohio State due to an outbreak of COVID-19.
Ohio State is 5-0 this season but has had three games canceled because of the coronavirus, which means they are under the Big Ten’s six-game requirement to be eligible to play in the Championship.
Sources say the ADs will discuss possibly waiving the six-game threshold or scheduling a substitute team for the Buckeyes to play this weekend.
Michigan State will finish the regular season at Penn State in a 3:30 p.m. game on Saturday. Michigan State is 2-and-4 on the season.
