LANSING, MI — A 100-million-dollar COVID-19 relief package is being sought by Governor Whitmer from lawmakers during December’s lame duck session.
The governor sent a letter last week to lawmakers seeking a state stimulus program, given the stalemate in Washington DC over the same issue. Whitmer wrote “families are hurting, and while we must continue to advocate for meaningful support from the federal government, we simply cannot afford to wait.”
Unemployment benefits for many in the state are expected to run out at the end of the year.
