KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Monday, the Northwoods League announced the schedule for the upcoming 2021 baseball season. Each team will return to playing 36 home games and 36 road games, according to officials.
The Kalamazoo Growlers will start their 2021 season in Battle Creek on May 31. Following that stop, they will play their home opener game on June 2 against the Kenosha Kingfish.
The full schedule can be found here.
Additionally, there will be some scheduling changes in place for the 2021 season. After moving games up to 6:35 p.m. from 7:05 p.m. for the 2020 season, the Growlers have decided to maintain the 6:35 p.m. start time. Officials say this is meant to help prevent games from ending too late at night.
Sunday games will also now start at 1:35 p.m., rather than the previous start times of 2:05 p.m. games in 2019 and 1:05 p.m. games in 2020.
Officials say having a game start at 1:35 will help beat the hottest part of the day, between 3 and 4 p.m., while still allowing families plenty of time to make it to the ballpark after busy Sunday mornings.
Growlers fans are encouraged to purchase the team’s 365-Game Plan, which includes exclusive perks and events year-round, as well as tickets to five games with all-inclusive food and soda. These ticket packages are available at growlersbaseball.com or by calling 269-492-9966.
