KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Wednesday, officials with the Hilton Garden Inn announced that the new hotel will open on Monday, November 30.
According to an official statement, the new location is a restoration of the Historic Masonic Temple Building, located at 303 North Rose Street. The project is helmed by local developer PlazaCorp, as well as the Indiana-based hotel developer Dora Hotel Co.
“We can’t wait to connect with and service both the citizens and visitors of Kalamazoo,” Dora Hotel Co. Principal Tim Dora said in a statement. “We felt there was a genuine appetite in the community for an ambitious concept of this magnitude, and it’s been well executed from start to finish. City officials and PlazaCorp have been a pleasure to work alongside.”
The six-story hotel includes the following features:
- 114 guest rooms
- an indoor saline pool
- on-site restaurant
- outdoor courtyard
- 2,100-plus square feet of banquet space
- a fitness center
- lounge
- business center
- parking garage connected to skywalk
Under the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hilton Garden Inn will open at a reduced capacity. 54 rooms will be available for use initially, and plans to operate at full capacity are currently scheduled for February.
In addition, officials say that the adjoining eight-story Home2Suites by Hilton Kalamazoo Downtown is slated in May. That building will be an all-suite hotel with 106 guest rooms, plus similar amenities.
“We’re equally excited for the opening the Home2 next year,” Dora Hotel Co. Regional Manager Wendy Bland said in a statement. “It’s a gorgeous hotel in its own right that perfectly complements its historic neighbor. Between the two, we’re proud to bring 220 new hotel rooms to downtown.”
