BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – For the 11th straight year, FireKeepers Casino Hotel has donated 2,500 turkeys for the holiday season to five area food banks as well as The Kendall Street Pantry in Battle Creek.
FireKeepers CEO Kathy George says, “We are especially proud to be able to help our neighbors in need this year, and every year for the past 11 that we’ve been operating. 2020 has been a year of irregularities, but one thing our community can depend upon is support from FireKeepers Casino Hotel and its owners, the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi.”
The Food Bank of South Central Michigan in Battle Creek got 1,500 turkeys.
Receiving 200 turkeys each are Food Gatherers in Ann Arbor, Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank in Comstock Park, the Community Harvest Food Bank in Fort Wayne, Indiana and the Greater Lansing Food Bank in Lansing.
The Kendall Street Pantry will receive a donation of 200 turkeys on December 14 to prepare for donations during the Christmas period. This pantry is a spoke of The Fire Hub, a non-profit division of FireKeepers Casino Hotel.
