NABLUS, West Bank (Reuters) – A Palestinian motorist fired a pistol at Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday and was shot dead by them, a military spokesman said.
There were no Israeli casualties in the incident at a roadside military position near the Palestinian city of Nablus.
Palestinian medical officials could not immediately confirm the death or identify the man, saying Israeli troops had sealed off the area.
The West Bank, among areas where Palestinians seek statehood, has seen sporadic grassroots violence since U.S.-sponsored peace negotiations with Israel stalled in 2014.
