In some cases the outcome was messy and delayed but voters have finally spoken. Next will come measurement of the results. As for farmers one result of November 3rd will likely be reduction in federal direct payments. The Biden camp has supported increased assistance for nutrition programs such as SNAP along with more focus on agriculture’s role in climate change. Another Trump term in the White House would likely deliver a continuation of the current trade climate and an effort to streamline programs such as SNAP. Whatever the outcome, ramifications the repercussions won’t come down to a few talking points in the days after the vote. Nor will they be covered over the course of the next four years.
