BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A home that was the scene of a recent double murder caught on fire Sunday morning and Battle Creek fire officials are trying to determine what caused the blaze.
The front of the two story residence at 203 Post Avenue near Marjorie Street was damaged in the fire which was reported at 4:17 a.m..
The entire front of the home was in flames when the fire units arrived. The flames forced firefighters to take an initial defensive attack.
The home was not occupied and there were no injuries. Firefighters were on the scene for about 70 minutes.
This was the same home where 34-year-old Joseph Soule and 31-year-old Jaclyn Lepird lived. They were killed on October 7th and their landlord, 53-year-old Chad Reed, confessed to the murders, turned himself in, and told police that he hid their bodies.
