EAST LANSING, MI — A steep decline of $54 million in revenue at Michigan State University can be attributed mostly to a fall enrollment dip of 2%, President Samuel Stanley said Wednesday.
Final numbers show 49,695 students enrolled at the East Lansing school, which is down by 866 from fall 2019.
Stanley said in an email sent to the MSU community that first-year enrollment is 8,228 students, which is down only 335 from last year. All classes this fall have been online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stanley has said he expects virtual instruction to continue into next spring.
