KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — After a close race during the August primary, one Kalamazoo County Commissioner is not giving up on her effort to be elected State Representative in Michigan’s 60th District.
Stephanie Moore recently launched a write-in campaign, encouraging voters to add her name onto the ballot on November 3rd.
She lost the Democratic primary to County Commissioner Julie Rogers by just over 400 votes. Gary Mitchell is the Republican candidate on the ballot for the 60th State Representative seat.
Moore was considering a recount but on August 13th she conceded to Rogers and released a statement saying, “I congratulate and applaud every person who was a part of Moore-2020. It is with bittersweet feelings that I end my campaign for State Representative, 60th District primary election.”
But on September 11th Moore posted on her Facebook page, “On behalf of Friends of Stephanie Moore for Michigan State Representative, 60th District, I am excited to confirm our commitment to continue our campaign for the Michigan 60th district State Representative office! We are launching this weekend. I am 100% committed to working as hard as before and I am inviting you to join me whenever and however you can.”
Both Moore and Rogers are former board chairs of the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners.
