It is getting wetter in many parts of the country. In just the last week acreage that was reported to be short to very short of moisture has improved 13 percent. At the same time land with surplus topsoil moisture increased several points. Of course the Gulf coast and Southeast have been soaked with rainfall from a land-falling hurricane but Michigan as well as much of the rest of the Midwest has also seen passing fronts deposit needed rainfall. Iowa in particular has seen major improvement with moisture totals ahead of harvest. While freezing temperatures haven’t arrived yet, frosty mornings in our part of the world are becoming part of the weather picture as autumn arrives.
