KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Monday, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) announced the retirement of Assistant Chief Jeff VanderWiere after 24 years of service.
In a Facebook post, KDPS detailed the highlights of his time with the department, which include being a K-9 Handler, the training division commander and the Assistant Chief of Strategic Planning.
KDPS also credits VanderWiere with leading the 3-year Strategic Plan, along with building out and staffing the Kalamazoo Strategic Operations Center and running the accreditation process.
According to the statement, KDPS says VanderWiere “took his organizational knowledge and his unique ability to analyze and plan to create organizational assets where none existed before.”
