CHICAGO, IL (WTVB) – Eloy Jimenez hit a tiebreaking home run in the fourth inning and the Chicago White Sox went on to beat the Deteoit Tigers 5-2 Sunday afternoon.
Yoan Moncada went 3-for-4 with an RBI as the White Sox swept the three-game series. Jimmy Cordero got the win for Chicago, which has won four-in-a-row and eight of its last nine games.
Spencer Turnbull took the loss for Detroit yielding five runs over five innings. Jorge Bonifacio singled in runs in the first and ninth for the Tigers.
The Tigers have lost five-of-six to fall to 20-and-26. They are off today before returning home tomorrow night to face the Kansas City Royals.
Matthew Boyd will start the opener for Detroit. He is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing seven runs on eight hits and four walks over three-plus innings against the Brewers and is 1-and-6 with a 7.63 ERA for the season.
