SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two children caught in a rip current in Lake Michigan near South Haven were rescued by good Samaritans Thursday afternoon.
Officials with the South Haven Area Emergency Services say the 10-year-old and 14-year-old were swimming near the South Pier at around 4:40 p.m. when they were taken toward the rocks near the Pier by the currents.
Bystanders were able to get life rings to the two and pull them into shore.
Red flags were flying at the time of the incident, and the two children were not wearing life jackets.
