RICHLAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Richland Township Fire Department in Kalamazoo County will receive $279,631 in federal funding to purchase new equipment and provide training. The federal grant comes from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program.
Michigan U.S. Senator Gary Peters, Ranking Member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee said “I am pleased to announce this grant, which will help ensure that the Richland Township Fire Department can continue carrying out its mission through this unprecedented public health crisis.”
Eligible fire departments and Emergency Medical Services organizations in Michigan and across the country can apply for Assistance to Firefighters Grants. The competitive grants are designed to help first responders purchase the equipment and obtain the training needed to handle fire-related hazards.
