CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WTVB/WNWN) – A man is dead following a home break in and an ensuing police standoff on Tuesday afternoon in Calhoun County.
WWMT-TV reports the series of events started just after noon when a home was broken into between Marshall and Albion and that the man inside fired shots at police.
One of the cruisers was struck. It’s unclear if police returned fire.
Due to the situation, Division Drive between Homer Road and 22 Mile Road was shut down.
Efforts to talk to the barricaded man were unsuccessful. Police found him dead just before 5:00 p.m. when they went inside of the home. It’s not known yet how the man died.
Michigan State Police are investigating the incident.
