BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Fire officials are looking into two house fires with one being considered suspicious.
The first broke out just before 2 a.m. Thursday at a multi-family structure on Highland Avenue between Wentworth and Iroquois Avenues. When first responders arrived they found flames coming from the first floor apartment and extending out of the structure to a neighboring house.
All four units were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. The Battle Creek Fire Marshall and Battle Creek Police Department is investigating the cause and are calling this fire suspicious.
Then less than two hours later, crews were called to another house fire in the 1200 block of Sonoma Road near Minges Road South around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
First responders found flames coming from the first floor and spreading into the second floor and attic area.
No injuries were reported and all occupants were out of the home.
That fire is also under investigation. Anyone with more information on either fire should call the fire department headquarters at 269-966-3519.
