KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — One person is in critical condition in the latest of a string of gun incidents in Kalamazoo.
Just after midnight on Tuesday, Public Safety officers were notified that a 24-year-old Kalamazoo resident arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound and were told that the shooting occurred in the 800 block of Riverview Drive near Bridge Street on the city’s Eastside.
The victim was last listed in critical condition and there is no suspect information at this time.
The Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident.
Kalamazoo has seen an increase in gun-related incidents around the area. On Monday afternoon a victim was injured after shots were fired at a red truck near the 500 block of North Rose Street.
Two teens were shot and injured in two separate incidents in Kalamazoo early Monday morning and on Saturday a suspect opened fire in the Westnedge Hill neighborhood, striking four different apartments.
Kalamazoo officials have been calling it a “gun crisis” in the city and residents have been asking for change due to the recent uptick in crime.
