DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Gas prices in Michigan are rising. The average price for gasoline increased 6 cents last week.
Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.19 per gallon for regular unleaded. Monday’s state average is 6 cents more than a week ago, holding steady compared to this time last month, and 48 cents less than this time last year.
It now costs about $33 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline. That is $7 less than what drivers paid last August, when pump prices hit $2.67 per gallon.
In Kalamazoo County, drivers are paying an average of $2.15 per gallon.
“Right now the average prices at the pump in Michigan are just about on par with the national average,” AAA Spokesperson Howard Hughey said. “Despite experiencing an increase from last week, we are still considerably down compared to this time last year and do not anticipate this becoming a long term trend.”
