ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An Allegan County man has been arraigned on murder charges in connection with the 1989 death of his adopted daughter, 14-year-old Aundria Bowman.
71-year-old Dennis Lee Bowman was charged with open murder, felony murder, first-degree child abuse and mutilation of a dead body.
He was arrested last year in connection to a separate 1980 death of a woman in Norfolk, Virginia.
In February of this year police began investigating his connection to Aundria’s disappearance following the arrest, and additional information led them to discover a shallow grave at Bowman’s property near the 3200 block of 136th Avenue in Allegan County’s Monterey Township. At the property, investigators found the remains identified as Aundria Bowman.
Aundria went missing from the family’s Fillmore Township home back in March of 1989.
Bowman has since been extradited back to Michigan and will be back in court on August 13.
