PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — On Wednesday, August 5, the Milham Avenue Pedestrian Overpass will be closed for maintenance activities. The project is expected to be complete on September 30.
For the bulk of the project, pedestrian traffic will be detoured using the Lovers Lane intersection.
Around September 9, the pedestrian traffic will be detoured using the Newport Road intersection. Signs will be posted along the Portage Creek Bicentennial Trail directing trail users to the detour routes.
Vehicular traffic on East Milham Avenue will be affected with periodic lane closures throughout the project timeline. Drivers are urged to slow down and watch for workers engaged in this activity.
The Milham Avenue Pedestrian Overpass was constructed in 2000. The original coating of the steel has reached the end of its useful life. The project includes removal of the existing paint, repair of any deteriorated areas and repainting of the steel with a three-part epoxy coating system.
