KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The recent executive order from Governor Gretchen Whitmer has resulted in a change in the graduation exercises planned in the Kalamazoo Public Schools.
All three ceremonies will now take place outdoors, with Phoenix High School and the Innovative Learning Program graduation taking place on the Loy Norrix soccer field on Tuesday, August 4th, at 6 p.m.
The Loy Norrix exercises will take place on Wednesday, August 5th, at the Knights’ soccer field at 6 p.m, and Kalamazoo Central’s graduation will occur at 6 p.m at the Maroon Giants’ football field, Thomas Stadium.
Administration officials say that all three events will take place outside, rain or shine, so attendees should be prepared for the weather. According to the press release sent out by the district,
“Graduating seniors and no more than five guests will arrive at staggered, designated times. Face coverings are required to attend, and social distancing practices will be observed. The ceremonies will be live-streamed, with special pre-recorded sections, on the KPS YouTube channel. New details about each school’s graduation ceremony are being sent to seniors and their families.”
