DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Gas prices in Michigan are down 5 cents compared to last week.
Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.15 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 5 cents less than this time last month and about 73 cents less than this time last year.
Motorists are paying an average of $32 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $12 from when prices were their highest last July.
In the new report from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand fell from 8.65 million b/d to 8.55 million b/d last week. Decreasing demand for gasoline has helped pump prices to decrease in the last week.
“If demand continues to drop, motorists could see pump prices decline further,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group.
Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price decreased. Metro Detroit’s current average is $2.24 per gallon, 3 cents less than last week’s average and 67 cents less than this time last year.
- Most expensive gas price averages: Marquette ($2.28), Metro Detroit ($2.24), Ann Arbor ($2.17)
- Least expensive gas price averages: Traverse City ($2.03), Benton Harbor ($2.05), Saginaw ($2.06)
