KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two people are dead and another victim is injured after two shootings in Kalamazoo.
The first occurred in the 800 block of Woodbury Avenue near Ada Street on the city’s Northside around 6 p.m. Wednesday. When Public Safety officers arrived they found a 29-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. KDPS has now identified the victim as Dondreal Watkins of Kalamazoo.
They believe the suspect’s vehicle is a silver or gray late model Nissan Sedan. No other details have been released at this time.
The other shooting occurred less than two hours later around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Cameron Street near East Stockbridge Avenue in Kalamazoo’s Edison Neighborhood.
Authorities found a 28-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound who was later pronounced dead at the hospital. KDPS has now identified the victim as Devante Coleman of Kalamazoo.
A second victim, whose name has not been released, was also located, and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers have released surveillance photos of the possible suspect’s vehicle in the Cameron Street shooting. The vehicle appears to be a silver or gray late model Dodge Caravan with black rims.
The Cameron Street shooting scene was near the same area of a “rolling gunfight” that happened earlier this month.
