COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Five people are in custody following a home invasion in Comstock Township, which resulted in the resident firing shots at the suspects.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home in the 600 block of Pickard Street off of East Michigan Avenue near Barker Avenue around 6 a.m. Thursday after the 911 caller said multiple subjects were attempting to break into the residence.
The person inside the home fired shots at the suspects, hitting one of them.
Five people were located and arrested in connection to the home invasion, including the person who was shot. That person was treated and released from the hospital.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and charges will be submitted to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s office for review on Friday.
Deputies say that this home invasion does not appear to be related to the crime that occurred in the city of Kalamazoo Wednesday evening, which included two fatal shootings.
