KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety has two men and a teen boy in custody after receiving a report of an assault Saturday afternoon.
Officers were called to the 1800 block of South Burdick Street near Reed Avenue around 2 p.m. Saturday after a caller said there was a vehicle circling in the area.
The caller indicated that, due to previous incidents of gunfire in that area, they believed that the car’s occupants might be armed.
The department then received a call that the same vehicle was in the 200 block of East Maple Street and that caller said that they had been threatened with a handgun.
Officers located the vehicle in the 2000 block of Portage Street near Bryant Street and upon investigation they discovered two handguns and evidence that shots had been fired inside of the vehicle.
The three occupants, a 23-year-old, 21-year-old, and 17-year-old, were all arrested on several charges including felonious assault, carrying concealed weapons, and outstanding warrants.
